CCAT have conducted in-depth research into the scale of the problem in Croydon. We believe that we have only touched the tip of the iceberg, but still found issues that deeply disturb us. Here are some of the current ways you can help us take action.
NEWSQUEST withdraw adult adverts from all newspapers

We want to thank Newsquest for making a bold decision and listening to the campaign 'asks' we have bombarded them with in the last few years.
You can do this in two ways:
1. Visit the Croydon Guardian Website and post a message at the bottom of this article.
2. Email Andrew Parkes and say a genuine thank you for listening to our letters and emails and responding in such a positive way.
You can also continue the campaign to lobby other non-responsive papers in our borough by following the action ideas below.
CONTACT NEWSPAPERS
NEWSQUEST, the owners of The Croydon Guardian (and many other publications across the UK) have recently announced that they will withdraw all adult adverts from their papers. "Increasing concerns regarding the appalling issue of human trafficking has been significant in this decision, which is effective immediately" said Andrew Parkes, the group editor for South London. This has been a direct result of effective campaigning by CCAT supporters over the last three years.
The question that now remains is why haven't The Croydon Advertiser and Croydon Post done the same?
We see these other publications as part of the problem. As long as they continue to advertise services that exploit trafficked women and children, then the media is contributing to the problem of slavery in Croydon. It is not good enough to report about raids and local action on the front pages and then give details of how to contact and use sexually exploitative services that traffick women on the back pages.
You can help us stop the advertising of the sale of people by writing to the local press and the owners of the newspapers too.

We have evidence that shows that there are dozens of illegal, unlicensed businesses operating in the Croydon Borough. The businesses we have identified are brothels that offer sex illegally. These brothels have over 80% of women coming from somewhere other than the UK and we believe the evidence suggests they are trafficked. You can use the template on this page to demand that Croydon Council take action and close down these illegal businesses that are selling human lives in our borough.
